In honor of it being Christmas week, I thought it would be nice to do a review on a Holiday film. Since love hard is only about a month old I thought it would be a perfect choice, due to the fact some people might be seesawing on whether it is worth watching or not.
Natalie Bauer a California girl runs a dating blog, describing all the horrible online guys she goes on dates with, and how each one makes her more depressed about her love life. Her hopes grow when she sees Josh on her dating app. After talking and getting to know each other for a couple of weeks she decides to go meet him in his hometown New York. Once arriving she uncovers a huge secret altering the entire trip. Overall, making her question herself and digging an even deeper hole.
The performances of each individual actor and how they interacted with each other differentiated this film from many other cheesy Christmas romance movies. Natalie played by Nina Dobrev was my least favorite performance out of them all. I say this because I felt she wasn't letting go the way she could have throughout the film. Which, in my opinion, made the movie seem like a Hallmark movie. My favorite performance was from Josh Lin played by Jimmy O. Yang because he made the movie feel real and touching in a way Nina could not.
This movie was much different from many of the others I have seen. While this will not trump my favorite Christmas film, it is my favorite romance one. I would say this movie is a new and inspiring piece for its time because of the story of it all, the way it was told, and the way it was acted out. They define love can be found everywhere and at any time in life even when you least expect it. So, would I recommend you watch this movie? Yes, I would. But, if you are not into love stories then I suggest you do not watch this because while it is a funny movie it's a love story in the end. I thought this was an amazing movie and it kept my attention throughout the majority of the movie.
As always these are just my opinions on the movie and if you have a different one that's perfectly okay!
